PARTICIPANTS GUIDE
REASONS WE MAY STRUGGLE TO FORGIVE
We have a wrong idea of forgiveness.
Forgiveness is not minimizing the offense.
It does not mean what happened to us was right or that we deserved it.
Forgiveness is not saying that what the person did is OK. It’s not OK and it never will be.
Forgiveness is not a feeling. It’s a choice.
Forgiveness is not forgetting.
Forgiveness is not reconciliation.
We don’t think it’s fair.
We don’t think we can do it.
ALL ABOUT FORGIVENESS
Forgiveness is DIFFICULT, but it’s not OPTIONAL
Matthew 6:14-15 For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you, 15 but if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
Matthew 18:21-22 Then Peter came up and said to him, “Lord, how often will my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? As many as seven times?” 22 Jesus said to him, “I do not say to you seven times, but seventy-seven times.
Forgiveness is possible because we’re forgiven.
Luke 7:47 Therefore I tell you, her sins, which are many, are forgiven—for she loved much. But he who is forgiven little, loves little.
Understand the principle of sowing and reaping
Do you really want to reap the unforgiveness you’re sowing?
